Teaching and coaching kids has been part of me  for as long as I can remember.  My first experience actually occurred when I was in third grade coaching girls tee ball along side my older sister.  After working with college students for a few years, I began teaching and coaching at risk youth.  Currently, when I’m not teaching Kids’ Carpentry, I can be found advancing the mission of a local university.  Engaging kids so they can learn, create and grow in confidence is something that brings me great joy.

I came to Kids’ Carpentry after woodworking with my own children.  Seeing how excited my kids were to go to the “workshop” and create everything imaginable gave me a thought, “I wonder if all kids are this excited to be carpenters?”  An emphatic ‘yes’ came after finding Kids’ Carpentry on the internet, teaching carpentry classes for over 500 kids, and from parents' desires to sign their kids up for another session after just one class.  It’s truly a gift to work alongside these budding carpenters.  After one class they will leave excited, with new confidence and the skills to safely build their own projects in Kids’ Carpentry.

Because of a limited schedule, Joe is teaching private classes only this Fall. Please contact Joe if you would like to bring Kids' Carpentry to your school, home, church, rec center or garage!
